Spotted – the new Empire VX8 downhill bike

Friday’s mission to the London Bike Show revealed the all new Empire VX8 DH bike.

The VX8 is the latest bike from Empire, revealed at the show. The frame is 100% made, designed and tested in the UK and will go on sale in the next few weeks.

It’s the next generation of the much-typed-about Empire AP-1. Gone is the cast front end of the AP1, replaced by a CNC and tubed front triangle. The rear keeps the cast technology that takes inspiration from motorsport.

The bike can run 26″ or 27.5″ wheels (meaning you can upgrade your current bike and still be future-proof if you want to upgrade later), there’s loads of options for graphics and colours and options to upgrade the shock.

Really interesting is the price. £1399 gets you a frame set, totally made in the UK, bought direct from Empire. For the money, that’s bloody brilliant. We’re looking forward to seeing how she rides.

What do you think of the Empire? Let us know!

  1. What more could you possibly ask for? Can’t wait to get my hands on one! If it rides anything like the MX6 evo this thing is gonna be FAST.

  2. Looks great and Empires always have sick graphics eh! Need to know what are the optional angles/wheelbase/bb height etc in 27.5″ trim? Also, what is the tyre/mud clearance with 27.5″ wheels?
