Team diary: Mark Scott in Queenstown, New Zealand

Team Wideopenmag’s Mark Scott just dropped us a webstagram-holiday-postcard from down under. Here goes:

We’re almost 3 weeks deep into our Queenstown invasion and it’s been a hell of a trip so far. Helicopters, Jetboats and Reece’s rocket have been the vehicles of choice, I don’t think we can top those much more! With it being sunny and 25 degrees most days and chilled out duuuudes everywhere has meant that the Trippin media steam train has been running at full steam with 2 edits out and a ton of instabangers everywhere.

The riding here is mega, not a good place to start for the un-fit though, with mega steep climbs all over it’s made it a prime spot for some training before the EWS kicks off in under 2 weeks in Rotorua. Between riding, training and the gym we’ve even managed to fit in some non bike related activities. Jet boating was insane, flying down the canyon at 50mph on water was butt clenching! Heli drop was cool as f*ck to, well happy we got to do that!

After our first week at staying at the backpackers it was nice to have get our own pad and relax a bit more, makes life with a bike 10 times easier and we don’t have to hide our kit from dodgy looking travellers. It’s just entered our final week here in Queenstown and me and Josh have entered the bike fest enduro which should be a good warm up before we head north to Rotorua, plenty of fast guys in town at the moment to.

The hard work is done and now it’s down to the bike racing!
