News just in – Danny Hart goes fastest in practice at 2017 HSBC UK British Downhill Series rd1, Nant Gwrtheyrn.
Danny fired out a fast as all hell 2:09,293 on his second run of the day at Saturday’s British Downhill Series Rd1 practice session. Where most riders had a few messy runs, chilled on some and took it easy Danny punched out fast runs all day. He put in 5 solid, fast runs with just one chilled 10 minute run. Clearly those trips up to the venue before race weekend put him in good stead to turn up, go fast and hit the track at race pace from the off.
The times from practice show how messy conditions were on track at Nant G. Most riders times were super inconsistent with fast times mixed up with 10minute+ times. The deep mud, sticky ruts and narrow track meant loads of hold ups and plenty of room for mistakes. Lots of riders spent time stopping and scoping lines or getting up behind downed riders.
High five goes to James Anderson of the Senior Men field who was the only rider to punt out 10 runs and complete practice. Boss fight done. End sequence rolled. Credits. Winner.
Fastest female was Manon Carpenter, followed down by Wideopen’s Vero Sandler and then Rach Atherton. Rachel only rode 5 runs and was clearly taking it easy, scoping lines and helping her Academy rider Mille Johnset – we’ll see if practice is a good reflection on race results tomorrow.
Respect to Becki Skelton and Cairn Bell for battling the uplift queues to get loads of runs in.
