Spotted : Brendan Fairclough’s Prototype Scott Gambler.

Brendan Fairclough has been on track here at the Fort William British National Series/SDA race aboard a prototype Scott Gambler.

Details are pretty thin on the ground about Fairclough’s prototype whip, Brendan’s mechanic Gavin Black staying tight-lipped about the bike here at the Fort William National.

What we do know is that the bike sports a very different linkage design than the current production model. This prototype sports a four bar linkage, Horst Link-style configuration. The new BOS dampers handling that what we can assume is something in the region of 200mm travel.

Wheels are 27.5″ and the rear end sports an adjustable wheelbase. An all-alloy frame isn’t all that surprising for a prototype as it keeps the costs low. Will we see the same bike in carbon later in the year?

Other than that, there’s nothing wildly radical that we can see about this prototype Gambler. Time will tell if this bike supersedes the current Gambler for future production bikes.

Keep an eye out for the most stylish man in mountain biking coming down the hill later in the weekend.

Will we see Brendan on the box come Sunday?
