So how good is our 2018 World Champs squad?
There is, of course, our two current elite National Champions, Matt Walker and Katy Curd. There’s also Kade Edwards and Rosy Monaghan who are current National Champions.
There are also already four downhill World Champions in the mix (Laurie, Danny, Matt Walker and Rachel). There’s five World Cup race winners (Danny, Matt, Laurie, Rachel and Tahnee) and there’s two overall World Cup winners (Laurie and Rachel).
All of the elite racers on the list, except for Brayton and Atwill, have had a top 10 at World Cup this season. Brayton isn’t slouching though and has won a British National this year.
So yeah, it’s a pretty strong squad with several of the riders in with very real chances of winning their respective World Champs titles.
Of course, there’s one notable absences from the list. Yep, no Gee Atherton. After a double wrist break at Val Di Sole and a slightly off-pace season, Gee won’t race World Champs.
Bring on September 9th for an epic downhill race!
