Despite the thunderstorms overnight, both Sam Hill and Cecile Ravanel showed their class to take a strong lead into day 2 in La Thuile.
Rain made some of the most demanding stages in EWS history even more so, but that didn’t seem to phase the defending champions who took a clean sweep in the stages.
Stage three didn’t count for the ladies as it was cancelled due to an injured rider on course.
