Breaking news from the UK Gravity Enduro team, full face helmets are no longer a must-have for racers.
After years of stating that racers must wear a full face helmet, the UK Gravity Enduro Series has changed it policy. Racers may now compete wearing an open face helmet.
The rule change comes as a result of low entries for the series and an effort on the organiser’s behalf to encourage sign ups.
The announcement follows the UKGE’s ultimatum to riders that they need to either sign up or loose the series, made back in June 2018.
The need to wear a full face helmet has often been cited as a factor that deters riders from taking part and, faced with low numbers, the UKGE team have made the change.
(Update, the original post was deleted on the UKGE page but the rule change remains in place. There’s a new post in place here).
The decision to change the rules doesn’t to have been taken lightly and series organiser Steve Parr says that it “goes against my best judgement but has to be done for the series to survive”.
The next round of the series takes place on the 25th/26th August at Ae Forest in the Scottish Borders. Entries are available now via MoreDirt.
The final round of the 2018 series takes place at Dyfi in Mid-Wales on 15th/16th September and entries are available here.
Will the rule chance encourage you to race the UKGE?
