My Favourite 15 Photos of 2018 | Simon Nieborak.

Simon Nieborak‘s top photos from 2018.

A photographer takes thousands of images in a year… and we’ve asked a few of our regular photographers to pick their top photos from 2018.

Next up is Simon Nieborak. Simon can only be described as prolific. He’s shot for us here at Wideopenmag on numerous projects, follows the FMB World Tour around Europe and further afield as well as being the man to go to for a lot of British brands.

Here’s Simon Nieborak’s top photos of 2018:

Sam Hodgson can seek out airtime anywhere and finds a natural kicker on the Isle of Wight.
Kathi Kuypers and Peter Kaiser play cat and mouse down on of the flow trails in the bike park in Innsbruck, Austria.
Sam Pilgrim and Nicholi Rogatkin / Place: Montpellier, France. If it’s not fun, you’re doing something wrong. Sam and Nicholi know very well how to utilise their time in between the contest runs.
Me and my daft dog.
Riders: Pat Campbell-Jenner and Oli Forster / Place: Forest of Dean. It’s never boring when you’re in FoD and to have to rad riders to shoot with, it just doesn’t get better. PCJ is one of the very first pro dirt jumpers I have had a pleasure to photograph, our paths go way back to Woburn Sands in the early years of this decade. glad we’re still in!
Thomas Genon and his Father. It’s just a great moment to see. Even, if a few years passed since Thomas turned into a full-pro rider, some things will never change. It’s wonderful how Mr Genon still follows his son around the contests to give him support.
Nick Armstrong, Aiken Colinge and Niko Turner / Place: Nottingham. I am seriously deep into shooting “behind the scenes’ photos. people don’t usually think how much work and effort goes into an edit or a photoshoot. On some occasions it’s an awesome trip to high mountains, but sometimes you’re stuck in a freezing cold abandoned warehouse.
On a ferry to Isle of Wight. It’s good to shoot something new and what’s outside my own and “usual” circle of interest. love travelling and when out there, I usually have a photo camera in my hand to capture moments like this one.
Koyo band / Place: Bognor Regis. I love MTB, but I also love music. whenever I have a chance to shoot a gig with an awesome music band, I always go for it. Sometimes it may take you to a strange place… like Bognor Regis, for example… Anyways, I love supporting up and coming artists, being close to the action, seeing things from behind the curtain and all the fun in between. it’s great.
Rider: Sam Hodgson / Place: Isle of Wight. I have been many times to Isle of Wight and always really enjoyed it, but Sam’s farm is simply a jaw dropping place. He built himself a mountain biker paradise on his family’s farm and utilises it’s to the max. Being a totally radical guy and a super stylish dirt jumper. He lives the dream!
Joe McEwan, Starling Cycles / Place: Bristol. Joe, the mastermind behind the Starling Cycles in his little shed working on yet another frame. It was an amazing experience to spend a day with such a talented man. Awesome thing is that Joe has talent not only in building bikes, but also using them on the trails.
Rider: Adam Kun / Place: Vienna, Austria. Every year, I go to Masters of Dirt in Vienna. Every year I meet Adam Kun there. And every year we try to shoot at least a couple of cool photos. and every year, we end up in the same spot shooting the same tricks… but it doesn’t matter, I love this trick for many different reasons. From the way it looks to the name of it, “plastic man”.
Rider: Matt Walker / Place: Danny Hart’s Descend Bike Park. Shooting with pro riders is always a treat when they attack corners like this. Matt has an attacking style that is a joy to watch and shoot.
Rider : Ryan Nyquist / Place: Innsbruck, Austria. It was great to see BMX legend Ryan Nyquist at a slopestyle MTB competition and it’s fair to say he can definitely still cut it with the young guns.
Rider: Jono Jones / Place: Wharncliffe Woods, Sheffield. Jono Jones is yet another example of why shooting with the top riders is the business. Able to throw a shape off pretty much anything on request.
