The Orbea Oiz has been updated for 2021 with lower frame weight courtesy of a new rear triangle with TR models coming with 120mm travel.
With two different travel options, three frame materials, and over a million custom options, the Orbea Oiz range certainly ticks all the options boxes, while also sporting a new rear triangle and carbon layup for a serious XC and marathon machine.

The Oiz is Orbea’s best selling bike, and it’s not entire;y surprising to see that they didn’t go down the same route as the Specialized Epic and go for a full re-work, rather a fine tuning of what they already had.
Working with their World Cup XC team, they started working on how to make the bike a better race machine. By changing their carbon layup, shortening the chainstay by 5mm on the XC model and using a flat mount caliper, the top of the range OMX frame comes in at a featherweight 1740g with the shock in size medium. The OMR carbon frame only adds 340g to that tally at 2080g for the same size.
The XC range is topped by the Oiz M-LTD, coming in at £7,699.99 and starts with the Oiz H30 at a mere £2,199.99. The TR range starts with the Oiz H10 TR at £2,699.99, rising to the Oiz M-Pro TR at £4,999.99.
Geometry
The Orbea Oiz shows its real XC roots with its geometry, being considerably shorter and steeper than we’re used to here at Wideopenmag.
There are subtle differences in geometry between the XC and TR versions. A medium Oiz XC sports a 69 degree head angle, 75 degree seat tube angle, with a 435mm reach and a 430mm chainstay. On the Oiz TR, head angle drops to 68, with the seat tube steepening to 75 degrees, while reach drops 10mm, the chainstay remaining at 430mm.
