Three years after launching their Trail and Enduro Wide wheels, Hunt give their wheels an update based on customer and athlete feedback.
Hunt take their Enduro and Trail Wide wheels and run them through their own custom lab to fine tune their flagship wheels. Starting with the rear rim profile on the Enduro Wide, the redesign filters down to the scaled down Trail Wide rim.
An improvement in the strength-to-weight ratio fuelled the redesign of the Enduro and Trail Wide wheels at Hunt, with their own in-house testing equipment coming in to help speed that process. The goal was to recreate real-world riding impacts.
Rim profile, hub and spoke layout changes all add up to produce quite a different wheel.

The new Hunt Enduro Wide rim started life with a look at the rear rim profile, looking for a slightly narrower width as Hunt felt it gave a better tyre profile for 2.35-2.5″ tyres. Looking at where the impact stresses were landing also saw a redesign of the internal structure to better distribute those impact load.
Weight saved from the narrower rim has been redistributed to add strength where it’s needed, in the high stress areas of the rim.
Hunt Trail Wide

With the hard work done with the Enduro Wide, it was a simple case of scaling the redesigned rim, hub and spoke layouts to work in a lighter weight setup. The Trail Wide therefore, runs on the same rim profile, but with a 30mm internal width.
