A healthy dollop of the World Cup elites were out in Portugal to blow off the winter training cobwebs and go against the clock.
It would be Commencal Muc Off who would claim the first scalps in 2022, with both a fully fit Amaury Pierron and Myriam Nicole taking the top spots at the Portugal Cup in Tarouca.
Portuguese National Champ Goncalo Bandeira made sure his presence was felt by slotting into second ahead of Benoit Coulanges. Vali Holl would be almost three seconds adrift of Nicole in Elite Women, with Tahnee Seagrave a whisker behind her. The top three ladies were streets ahead of the rest of the pack.
