Day One of The Merida EX Presented by Shimano is Go.

Widely touted as the best enduro race of the year, The Merida EX Presented by Shimano is back for the 2022 edition.

Taking in the very best that Exmoor has to offer, THE MERIDA EX Presented by Shimano’s first day has gone off with a bang.

Back for the sixth time, THE MERIDA EX Presented by Shimano, returns to Minehead in the UK’s South West.

Just 80 riders will be treated to one of the UK’s best-kept MTB secrets, the Exmoor National Park. Three days, 20+ timed stages, 4000m+ of climbing and 100km+ of distance with a strong emphasis on good times over good results.

Whilst THE MERIDA EX is a race as far as you get timed down the special stages and winners are announced, it’s far more about the experience than the winner.

Those lucky enough to get an entry simply turn up and everything is provided, including plenty of food and drink and a whole heap of apres-ride entertainment. All they have to do is ride bikes and have fun.

Day one was a deceptively gentle start, kicking off at midday and into five timed stages with stunning views across the Bristol Channel. Once the daylight was spent, Exposure Lights provided their best mountain bike lights to extend the fun into the evening for three night stages and, of course, the after party.

On to day two.
