The New Orbea Rise | Everything You Need to Know.

With the Wild redrawing the lines for what a full fat ebike can do, Orbea give their half fat Rise the same treatment too.

Much like the updated Wild, Orbea’s Rise half fat ebike gets frame, battery and various other tweaks to make it class-leading. Still based around 140mm rear travel and a 150mm fork with 29″ wheels only.

With Scott having just launched a 15kg cross country and trail ebike, Orbea’s release of the new Rise seems well-timed, as their new half-fat all-mountain machine tips the scales at a similar weight. Coming in at 15.9kg (35lbs) for the M-Ltd model and a frame coming in at 2.2kg (4.8lbs), Orbea have once again upped the ante when it comes to ebikes.

The new Rise once again is powered by their co-developed Shimano motor, this time, the EP801 that offers more adjustability and better connectivity than the outgoing model. You still get the 60Nm torque and this is fueled by either a 360 or 540Wh battery.

Like with the Wild, the Rise’s batteries have seen similar redesign with both the batteries weighing less whilst also charging faster and dissipating heat better. The smart charger can charge both the main battery and the range extender. The new 360Wh battery will also fit current Rise H models. A 252Wh range extender is also available.

Gone is the old LED reader for the motor modes, and in comes the wireless EN6000 control which is a much neater unit. With this unit containing the power button, it frees up the space on the frame, allowing more seat post insertion.

Rise linkage has also been completely redesigned to provide greater rigidity while its new shape achieves a lighter weight. Now, a size M carbon Rise frame tops the scale at a scant 2.2 kg. This link is now compatible with the Orbea FLP multitool. This means that riders always have multiple allen keys on their bike.

The Rise range is seven bikes strong. Four carbon fibre models and three alloy. Prices start at £4,999.00 for the H30 and rise (whey!) to £9,999.00 for the M-Ltd.

Geometry

The Orbea Rise is available in Small, Medium, Large and XLarge.

Reach on the Medium is 450mm combined with a 419mm seat tube. Head angle is adjustable between 66 and 65.5 degrees, with the seat tube angle adjustable between 77 and 76.5 degrees. Chainstays are 445mm across the sizes with the wheelbase on the Medium sitting at 1205mm.
