Airdrop have finally released their long-awaited and much-teased aluminium downhill bike, in the form of the Slacker DH.
Seen under their recent signing, Craig Evans, the Airdrop Slacker DH is now available for us mere mortals to ride too.
The Slacker DH is three years in the making and is now available for you to buy. 100 will be available this year with bikes shipping in March. From the sounds of it, the Slacker DH is very much a downhill bike for slinging about rather than outright speed but we’re sure it can be ridden hot.
The frame is all aluminium, with hydroformed and butted tubes linked together with CNC machined pieces where required.
200mm rear wheel travel comes via a 225 x 75mm Trunnion shock, the rear brake mount will take a 200mm rotor, rear spacing is 157 x 12mm Superboost and the Airdrop reach adjust headset offers -/+5mm either side of the size’s given reach numbers. Wheel size is 27.5″ only.
Two frame kits and four complete bikes will be available. Frame kits come either with a Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil at £1,799.00 or an Ohlins TTX m.2 Coil at £1,999.00. Complete bikes start at £3,599.00 for the Slacker Luxe, topping out at the Slacker Works at £4,499.00.
Geometry
The Slacker DH is available in S1, S2 and S3 sizes.
Reach on the S2 is 455mm, with the adjustable reach headset offering 5mm either side. Seat tube is 410mm across the sizes. Head angle is 63 degrees. Chainstay length is 435mm across the sizes, with the S2 wheelbase coming in at 1238.6mm.
