GT Bicycles have launched the new Sensor and Sensor ST in either long or short travel trail flavours to suit your riding style.
Available in 140mm travel mode for the Sensor or 120mm for the Sensor ST, GT have left no stone unturned when updating their trail 29er platform.
Whilst the new GT Sensors cast a familiar shadow compared to the outgoing models, the frame has seen some serious work, and the range has grown considerably, not only in terms of travel offered between the Sensor and Sensor ST, but the models available within each.
Lower weight is one of the main features of the new GT Sensor frame with an all-new carbon front triangle and seat stay, drops 600g off the frame weight. The alloy components have also been redesigned to keep the weight down. Full internal cable routing is also available on all Sensor frames.
The Sensor ST looks to be quite the 120mm bike, with 29″ wheels, a suitably slack head angle, long reach and wheelbase, mirroring the Sensor geometry mostly but in a shorter travel package.
The Sensor range is seven strong. Five Sensor and two Sensor ST models will be available. Within the two, the Sensor will be coming in three carbon and two alloy options, with the Sensor ST only available in carbon.
Sensors start at ÂŁ2,200.00 for the Sensor Sport and rise to the Sensor Carbon Pro LE at ÂŁ5,000.00. With the Sensor ST, you have choice of either the Sensor ST Elite at ÂŁ3,350.00 or the Sensor ST Pro at ÂŁ4,000.00.
Geometry
GT Sensor and Sensor STs are available in S, M, L and XL sizes. Geometry is slightly different depending on frame material.
Reach on the Medium carbon frames is 455mm combined with a 400mm seat tube. Head angle is 65 degrees with a 77 degree seat tube angle. Chainstays are 440mm across the sizes, with the Medium wheelbase at 1221mm.
On the alloy Sensors, Medium reach is 450mm with a seat tube of 420mm. Head angle sits half a degree steeper at 65.5, the same for the seat tube at 77.5 degrees. Chainstays are the same at 440mm, but the wheelbase shortens to 1205mm.
Reach on the Medium Sensor ST is 460mm with a seat tube of 400mm. Head angle is 65.4 degrees with the seat tube at 77.4 degrees. Chainstays are 440mm across the sizes with a wheelbase of 1216mm.
