Both Orange Bikes and frame manufacturers Bairstows are up for sale with neither business trading during the administration process.
BDO Restructuring Partners acting as joint administrators for Orange Mountain Bikes and P Bairstows, have indicated that neither business are trading during the administration process and that both businesses as well as some assets are for sale.
Bairstows manufacture all of Orange Bikes’ UK-made frames in their Halifax facility. Both companies are linked by common ownership. Orange Bikes don’t really need much introduction, having produced bikes in the UK since 1988. Bairstows are the Halifax-based sheet metal fabricators that lend their expertise to Orange’s unique monocoque designs.
The aim of the administration process is to safeguard the 44 jobs across both businesses, which indicates that keeping them alive is a priority. The news seen on Consultancy UK does not appear to look to sell the two businesses together. Orange may lose their capacity to manufacture frames in the UK if the businesses were to be sold separately.
