SRAM Offer GX Eagle Transmission Upgrades for Mechanical to Wireless.

Got a bike with SRAM Eagle 70 or 90 and fancy an upgrade to GX AXS Transmission? Well, you’re in luck as an upgrade kit is now available.

SRAM now offers a kit that lets riders update their mechanical transmission to the GX AXS wireless setup.

At over £500, the upgrade kit likely won’t tempt anyone that were drawn in by the mechanical Eagle 90 drivetrain. It makes more sense to buy the bike with it anyway if that’s an option. Should you however have the OE-only Eagle 70, this is certainly more of an enticing prospect.

Eagle 90 should, it seems also be for anyone who wanted the T-type shift performance but without the need to remember to charge and fit a battery. We’re unsure if you would buy the upgrade kit based on this, or would have bought a bike with the T-type transmission if it was available.

In any case, if you have a mechanical SRAM transmission and do in fact want a wireless transmission, for £570 you get a new mech body, shifter pod and AXS battery. The mech body swaps out the body only, so don’t go throwing away the cage and mount, or the other ancillaries like the bush, bolt and grip ring either.

With that you get the seamless, consistent AXS shifting in all weathers, the same shift feel just with that distinctive ‘vvvp’ sound back in the mix.
