The Specialized Levo R is a 140/130mm travel, full 29″, full power addition to the already popular Specialized Levo 4 family.
Specialized have launched the Levo R(ally), boasting the same 3.1 motor and 840Wh battery of the Levo 4, but with 29″ wheels and a shorter 130mm rear travel, paired with a 140mm fork.
The latest Specialized ebike is the Levo R, a short travel, 29″ iteration of their Levo 4 platform. The motor and battery is the same, with the 3.1 motor offering up a max of 111Nm and 850W from an 840Wh battery. The S-Works Levo R tips the scales at 18.8kg. Over 500g has been saved in the frame weight on the new Levo R which is no mean feat.
Geometry has been tweaked for the new bike, but is still fully adjustable, something that was introduced on the Stumpjumper EVO and continues through to the Levo R. Chainstays are +/- 6mm, bottom bracket +/- 5mm and the head angle +/- 1 degree. Options are available to run the smaller 600Wh battery and gain SWAT storage space.
As with other Specialized models, the Levo R comes with Genie suspension, aiming to offer coil-like performance at the initial stroke and air shock progression in a proprietary Fox shock. The shock also uses more travel for a given force than an air shock. It seems to be the real deal on Pete’s Levo 4 test bike, but the question remains, would it not just be easier to fit a coil shock?
A nice touch is the lifetime full suspension replacement bearing policy for the original owner.
Geometry
The Levo R is available in S1-6. Reach on the S3 is 455mm with a seat tube of 405mm. Head angle at stock is 65 degrees with a seat tube angle of 77 degrees. Chainstays are 447mm across the sizes with a wheelbase on the S3 of 1215mm.
