Key to the Bell 5Fifty is the bespoke Spherical system developed with MIPS. Built around that is an in-mold polycarbonate shell with motorsport-inspired diffuser to help guide air through the helmet to manage heat and sweat. A Sweat Guide™ and the Ionic+ pads also get busy when your head starts to leak.

Three sizes, a Float Fit System with a 360 degree dial, a Fidlock buckle and a three position visor help get everything fine tuned. Whilst it might replace the Super Air Spherical, it’s not exactly a straight swap. The Super Air was a light weight trail helmet, whereas the 5Fifty is an aggressive half face enduro helmet aimed at those riding analogue bikes.

Two main things separate the two helmets. Firstly, the weight. The 5Fifty is 500g in size large, whilst the Super Air is 410g in a size medium. Sub 100g might not seem like much of a difference, but when it’s around 20% of the weight, it won’t go unnoticed.

Second is the ventilation system. Whilst the Super Air had brow ports as part of the Overbrow Ventilation, the 5Fifty features Dual Flow Ventilation™ which is a more active system that aims to force air through the helmet with a system of vents, channels and exit ports.
