Endura’s Flipjak has just arrived Pete’s door for testing. This flashproof reversible primaloft should be ideal for staying warm before and after the ride, or even on the commute.
Can a non-waterproof primaloft work in the Scottish winter? We’ll be looking at the Flipjak’s ability to keep everything from the waist up warm on and off the bike. Here we take our first look at what promises to be a very versatile jacket indeed.

The Endura Flipjak should be a welcome addition to the arsenal as the winter approaches. Light weight, windproof and shower-resistant it should be the perfect outer layer for those frosty commutes in its high-vis guise, and something to have to hand before and after a ride to keep the worst of the chills out. An all-polyester construction and genuine Primaloft insulation take care of keeping things light and warm. Elasticated cuffs and hand warmer pockets should keep the heat in too. The hood is generous without flapping about in the breeze either.
Sizing shouldn’t be an issue with an expansive XSmall to XXLarge range, although generally, Endura clothing does size up on the small side of things. At 5′ 3″ and just over 8 stone, a leviathan I am not and this small fits me perfectly. Despite my massive head, the hood fits snugly but not tight, with room for a hat if I wanted to wear one. A helmet wouldn’t fit under the hood too easily though.
I’m looking forward to putting some time into this jacket both on and off the bike to see if it really is as versatile as the numbers seem to indicate. The clocks will be going back soon, which will give plenty of cooler days to really put this jacket through its paces.
