Back in the day World Cups were a pretty different thing. The tracks were longer. The riders wore lycra. Half of them took their peaks off their helmets for extra speed. There was always a hellish 2 minutes of drifting through muddy fields at the end. The venues were different too – Les Gets, Bromont, Big Bear, Kaprun … all now long lost to World Cup history.
