PeakRider is the answer to a problem you never knew you had.

Do you struggle with those tricky hike-a-bike moments?

You know, when you loft your bike on your back and start the long trudge to the summit?

Imagine the scene. You’re heading for the peak and you’re going to have to do a bit of hike-a-bike. Likely, you’ll get your bike comfy on your back and you’ll soon need to scramble up a scree slope, negotiate a rocky climb or proper yourself over a gate or style. Perhaps you’ll be hanging tightly to a metal cable as you inch your way along a narrow cliff-edge terraced path?

Sound familiar? Nope, it doesn’t to us either. But apparently it’s a real problem that real mountain bikers face.

PeakRider have the solution and are calling it “an intelligent light-weight carrying system”.

The PeakRider pops inside your backpack and provides a small handle that you can hang your bike from. Once in position, you can leave your bike on your back and stride off up the mountain hands-free without any worries about clambering up your next Via Ferrata.

The PeakRider lets you chuck your bike on and off your back easily and also lets you rotate the bike to adapt to the terrain. It fits, we’re told, in any hydration pack that has that little hole for your water hose to poke out of.

According to PeakRider’s inventor “I love nature. Going into the nature, up into the mountains with my bike on my bike to be rewarded with a long ride back down. It’s the greatest thing you can do. The only pain up until now was shouldering the weight of your bike when manoeuvring through narrow paths, climbing stairs, rocks and ladders on the way to the top. So I came up with a solution that not only makes carrying your bike easy but also fun.”

The PeakRider is currently on KickStarter on an all or nothing crowd fund campaign. They’re looking for €15,000, with €5,600 raised so far from nearly 100 backers. The deadline for funding is November 3rd.

Backers can pledge a minimum of €15 with a €55 pledge getting you a PeakRider in Feb 18 at the early bird price of €79 (30% off retail).

If you agree that the feeling of having both hands free while knowing your bike’s safe on your bike is incredible then you can check out PeakRider on Kickstarter here.
