With the new year comes a fresh line up for Team Wideopenmag.
We’re bidding a fond farewell to team riders Kelan Grant and Morgan Tyrrell.
Team Wideopen is our National Champs winning race team. They’re our eyes and ears on the race scene and our way of supporting young talent and British grass roots mountain bike racing.
They’re out repping Wideopen every weekend at the races, supporting race organisers and quite often winning a few medals. We’re really proud of the team and all of our riders.
As 2018 drops in we’re bidding farewell to two of our riders – Morgan Tyrrell and Kelan Grant.
Morgan Tyrrell
Morgan Tyrrell joined us as a quiet, lanky young ‘un for his first year of Youth racing.
That was two years ago and we’ve been stoked to see him transform into a fast as hell National Champs winning downhill racer.
During his time on the team Morgan worked hard on getting faster by racing everything he could get an entry for and training with Ben at MTB Strength Factory. His hard work paid off and he bagged a tonne of Mini Downhill wins, some very decent BDS results and – best of all – the Welsh National Champ and British National Champ titles.
2018 will see Morgan move onto a new team and step up to race his first World Cup season. We’re over the moon for him and can’t wait to see him make his mark on the World stage.
Kelan Grant
Irish pinner Kelan Grant joined us at the start of 2017 to race elite enduro, alongside Hutch.
Straight out of the gate Kelan absolutely killed it, taking wins at Tweedlove, Irish national Enduro events and then blowing us away with a qualification race win at the Megavalanche.
As if that wasn’t enough, Kelan went on to take the Irish National Champs title, the overall elite win at the super competitive Ard Rock Enduro and then the Red Bull Fox Hunt for good measure. To say he had a good year is a bit of an understatement!
Like Morgan, Kelan will be moving on up to a bigger team for 2018. His plans are to really get stuck in to the Enduro World Series and we’re sure his new team will make that happen. We’re looking forward to sharing the good news with you when it’s ready to go live.
Thanks and good luck
A HUGE good luck to Kelan and Morgan for the new year and with their new teams.
We’ll miss them both but we’re stoked to have been part of their journeys and to have helped them achieve the brilliant results they’ve both bagged. Good luck boys!
Thanks also – of course – to all of Team Wideopen’s sponsors who have given us amazing support all year and helped us to support the UK race scene and support young, fast, talented racers.
Photos thanks to Ian Lean, Trev Worsey and Ross Bell.
Stay tuned for the big announcement on our 2018 team line up on January 1st!
