The EX Enduro Returns to Exmoor September 16-18th.

The third edition of The EX Enduro, presented by DMR Bikes, returns to Exmoor for three days of racing, beer and the finest of cakes.

Taking place over a long weekend from the 16th to the 18th September, The EX Enduro returns bringing it’s unique blend of excellent bike racing and some of the best transition fuel stops anywhere.

Tea and cake… and racing.

The EX Enduro, presented by DMR Bikes is a 3-day enduro taking place in the Exmoor National Park and based in Allerford, just outside of Minehead.

This is no ordinary UK enduro race though. Set in the spectacular Exmoor National Park, riders will tackle 100km over 20 timed stages, with the first climb of the day handled by uplift so you can put all your puff into racing.

There’s also the now legendary vintage tea stops and the very welcome cliff-top Beer and Ice Cream van, making up the many excellent food stops on the race route. Each day ends with a slap up meal washed down by beverages courtesy of Bristol Beer Factory.

Entries open 1st April for pre-registered riders with entries limited to 80. If entries are left after the pre-registration wave is complete, they’ll be made available to the public on 3rd April.

Pre-registered riders will get a 48 hour head-start and will be able to enter from 1st April. Pre-register here.

Against the clock.

While The EX Enduro is much more than just about hammering dirt as the time ticks on, there is a lot to be said for the amount of time on track at this event.

Once you’ve made a new riding buddy on the climbs, you’re going to want to have done some training at least. Last year’s winner Jono Jones set the fastest time of the event, and spent a total of 45 minutes racing in 2017, with only the top 10 Open Men and top 2 Hardtail riders going under the 50 minute mark.

There will 35-45km of riding a day for 3 days with approx 1,500 – 2,000m climbing each.

THE EX will take place over three days and challenge riders to plenty of leg frying climbs and white-knuckle bombing downhills. There’s a beautiful mix of tight-and-technical and flat-out, moorland galloping that guarantees to put a grin on any rider’s face.

Being one of the UK’s few, if not only, multi stage, multi day enduros, expect THE EX to sell out quickly. Pre-registering is a no-brainer to ensure you get the jump on entries going live on April 1st.

The rest.

£300 for a bike race may seem like a lot, but add to the best part of an hour’s racing not including transitions or uplift, this is a full inclusive event. For those looking to maximise riding and socialising time though, a fully pitched tent service is available for an extra £40 (£30 for 2 sharing).

All food and drink, including the adult beverages, is included, so there’s far more on offer than just turning up at a car park to race your bike of a weekend.

Breakfast includes porridge, hot rolls, tea and proper coffee, while dinner will consist of lasagne, jacket potatoes, sweet potato chips and salad, with crumble and custard to finish.

That’s not including the tea and cake on course remember.
