All the big guns are on track here at the Fort William World Cup, but just before practice kicked off, we took a closer look at Gee Atherton’s Trek Session.
Sporting a custom split red/silver camo paintjob for the World Cup this weekend in Fort William, Gee Atherton’s Trek Session is a fine-looking vessel.
The bike, other than the rather fetching colour scheme, which compliment’s Gee’s kit pretty well, is the same as he raced at the National Downhill Series a few weeks ago.
What Gee’s mechanic Pete did say though is that both the fork and shock have been firmed up for the Fort William track to sit on top of the hits “to make it survivable for one run”. Wheels sitting into holes is super tiring and this track has plenty of them.
The geometry has been adjusted via Trek’s chip in the upper link to make the bike sit a bit higher on the top turns on track.
Other than the minor geometry and suspension changes, Gee’s bike is ‘stock’. Fox air units are handling the damping. Bontrager wheels and tyres keeping things spinning. Hope brakes slowing things down. Hope cranks are mated to SRAM XO1 running gear. Renthal bar, stem and grips make up the cockpit.
