Nukeproof Mega 290c Leads Out the 2020 Nukeproof Mega Range.

The Nukeproof Mega is a three-time Enduro World Series winner and to celebrate that, the 2020 Nukeproof Mega range has a 290c as its flagship.

Word on the street is that the carbon Nukeproof Mega 290 was never on the cards, that was, until Sam Hill decided he wanted to make the switch to bigger wheels and set about becoming the first rider in history to win three back-to-back EWS titles on the bike.

The Mega 290 in both alloy and carbon models see their suspension redesigned and increases to 160mm on the rear. Both models sport a 170mm fork (other than the RS model that has a 180mm fork), but the 27.5″ model has 165mm rear wheel travel. Small bump sensitivity, mid-stroke support and bottom-out resistance have all been improved in the process.

Carbon frames feature on the RS to the Elite models, with alloy frames on the Expert and Comp models.

A slacker head angle and a steeper seat angle come in at 64 and 76.3 degrees on the 29″ model and 65 and 75.5 respectively on the 27.5″ models. Sizing-wise, the 29″ comes in M, L and XL, with the 27.5″ sporting S, M, ML, L and XL sizes. Reach on the medium Mega 290 is 450.5, while on the 275 it drops to 435mm. The 27.5″ frames now come in a new ML size.

Specs have been changed to have the best up to date kit, with all bikes now running 12-speed regardless of their groupset, 4-pot brakes on all models provide more stopping power and front tyres now come in the form of the Michelin Magic-X compound offerings. All frame bearings are now Enduro numbers for longer lasting pivots.
