Shimano’s All Mountain Shoes Get an Upgrade.

New AM line shoes from Shimano get upper and outsole upgrades as well as a new fit to better suit a wider variety of foot shapes.

For a long old while, Shimano’s AM series of shoes have been the shoes to beat in terms of bang for your buck, and now they’ve received an upgrade in the form of the AM903 and AM503.

Aimed at downhill and enduro riders, the AM series of shoes from Shimano have gone head to head with our other favourites, Specialized’s 2FOs over the years. The new AM903s come with a dust cover for the laces, but let’s be honest, it’s not likely to be seeing much dust here in the UK. This is combined with a new quick lace system. They also sport a wider instep strap and a new last to cover a wider range of foot shapes.

Unsurprisingly, the AM903s are designed to work best with the Saint SPD pedals, but we’ve never really had any issue with compatibility with other pedals.

Those who like the outgoing AM90X shoes will be pleased to see the asymmetrically raised padded ankle collar, sidewall sole and molded toe cap for added protection, plus waterproof coating on the outer, and fast-drying inner material retained on the AM903s. The AM903 comes in black with gold lettering, or navy with a purple fade and purple lettering, in sizes ranging from 38-48. Weight: 415g per pair.

The AM903s will set you back £139.99 RRP.

You can immediately spot the AM503 due to the lack of lace cover but it does still come with the quick lace system. They come in sizes from 38-48 in black or olive for the male-fit version or sizes 36-44 in aqua blue for the female-fit version. AM503 men’s weighs 440g, AM503 women’s weighs 416g.

Keep your eyes peeled for a review of the new Shimano AM series shoes. If they’re anything like their predecessors, they’ll be hard to beat.

A set of AM503s could be yours for £79.99.
