Whilst it may well look like the same dropper post as before, the Fox Transfer dropper has seen a host of internal changes. Two dynamic air shaft seals have been replaced by static seals with an aim to lower friction and air loss, the latter up to 62%. On top of this, Fox claim a sixfold increase in service life (300 hours total now) thanks to doubling the oil sealing and adding a wiper. This both reduces oil and air loss.
Losing the dynamic air seals allowed the air chamber to be moved to the top of the post, the main bonus of this is the ability to add a Schraeder valve that sits under the 2-bolt clamp. Should you want or need to top up the air chamber you can. Air pressure can also be tuned to suit preferred return speed.
Metal-backed Ekonol bushes replace the IGUS units of the old dropper too. These bushes offer very tight tolerances with the lowest friction on offer to reduce the actuation force. The new Transfer post also offers 5mm travel adjust increments with the amount of adjustment available depending on the drop. More drop equals more adjustment. This is all tool-free. Servicing is also free of specialist tools.
