Neatly slotting in beneath the Lyrik and Zebs, the new Psylo and Domain get a brand new damper in the form of the Isolator.
The new and reprised Rockshox Psylo replaces the Yari, Revelation and 35 range of forks in one hit, with the Domain’s 38mm chassis benefitting from the new Isolator damper too.
Key to the new Rockshox Psylo and updated Domain forks is the new Isolator damper. A shim-based, spring-back internal floating piston (IFP) design with three compression settings is the nuts and bolts of the Isolator. Open, Pedal and Firm are fairly self-explanatory, with a dual-flow, single adjuster rebound circuit. This is combined with a DebonAir air spring that borrows designs from the Signature Series DebonAir+ spring, aimed to maximising top end smoothness with mid-stroke support.
Rockshox Psylo
As mentioned above, the Psylo replaces all previous 35mm-legged forks below the Pike and Lyrik in one fell swoop. No more Yari, no more Revelation, no more 35s. Available in a 130-160mm range with all new alloy upper legs, the Isolator 3-position damper and new bushings, there’s plenty going for the new Psylo.
The Isolator damper here sits the Motion Control unit that has been around since what seemed like forever. Motion Control was Rockshox’s top end damper in the early to mid 2010s. Again, we see the trickle-down effect as with top end forks in the range coming with Charger 3 dampers these days, the three-position Isolator is similar to that seen on some Charger 2 variants but with an updated shim an IFP system beneath.
Three Psylo models will be available but only one will be available aftermarket. The Psylo Gold RC comes in at ยฃ580.00 RRP, with the new Isolator RC damper with 130, 140, 150 and 160mm travel options for 27.5 and 29″ wheels in 44mm offset. A 160mm travel set weighs in at 2320g. The Psylo Silver RC retains the Motion Control damping paired with a Solo Air spring, the Psylo Silver R is coil sprung with the same Motion Control damper.
Rockshox Domain
With the now defunct Yari once coming in 180mm flavour, the longer travel applications have been taken over by the Zeb’s little brother, the 38mm-legged Domain. Chassis remains the same as before, with the Domains coming in heavier than the Zebs.
Travel options are 150, 160, 170 and 180mm with only the Domain Gold RC available aftermarket at ยฃ620.00 RRP. These will come with the Isolator RC damper and DebonAir spring for 27.5 and 29″ wheels in 44mm offset. The two-fork Domain offering also includes the Domain Gold R which has a Solo Air spring and only rebound damping.
