The Big S’ latest ebike offering, the Turbo Levo 4, goes toe-to-toe with AMFlow with the S-Works pipping the DJI-made offering by 6Nm in the peak power stakes.
Two of the new S-Works Specialized Turbo Levo 4s produce 12Nm less than this writer’s van. You certainly wouldn’t have adblue or DPF issues with an ebike, but you could probably buy a new van with the same money.

The new Specialized Turbo Levo 4 has landed, and in its S-Works guise, the new 3.1 motor offers a massive 111Nm torque. In the other models, it has a mere 101Nm. This 27% increase in peak power is also available out to higher cadences compared to the outgoing motor.
With a vast increase in power comes the SuperNatural power delivery that aims to help you make the most of the grunt. Compared to its closest competition, it gets up the Big S’ test climb 12% more. The shift to direct current also claims to have better power delivery than before, assisting in low speed maneuvers.
Beyond the boost in peak power, the 3.1 motor claims better heat management, durability, reliability and noise levels thanks to its CoreCoat winding encapsulation. A doubling of the size of the motor gears reduces the effect of heat expansion for a more consistent ride whilst the gears themselves get a hardened coating to increase longevity. A 1:2.7 gear ratio has the motor spinning faster and more efficient to use less battery.
A decoupling of the driveside motor housing reduces vibrations. Feeding this motor is an 840Wh battery. A 600Wh battery is also available. A 280Wh range extender also gives a max total of 1,120Wh for a reported 5.3 hour ride for an 80kg rider.
Genie suspension provides 150mm rear travel and sports a carbon shock extender. Genie uses more travel per bump, claiming more control but also more force for a bottom out, meaning more trail support. You get the same geometry adjustment that has typified Specialized full suspension bikes of late, a SWAT box and a side-entry battery housing. The SWAT storage sits above the battery top in a magnetic holder. Opt for the smaller battery and you can fit even more in the downtube. The S4 can also accept a 200mm dropper. Lifetime pivot warranty returns for the original owner too.
The Levo 4 comes as stock with a 5 amp, 200 watt charger. To charge faster than any bike on the planet, a 12 amp, 700 watt Smart Charger is available aftermarket. Specialized report that this will charge the 840Wh battery from 0-80% in less than one hour.
An all-new MasterMind TCU allows you to fine and dynamically fine tune your power settings. Either fine tune to suit yours or your groups needs with the fine tune, or the dynamic option will always have full power available regardless of the base power setting.
Four models of the Turbo Levo 4 are available. The S-Works at an eye-watering £12,499.00, the Pro at £10,299.00, the Expert at £8,499.00 and the Comp Carbon at £6,799.00.
Geometry
The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 is available in S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6.
Reach on the S4 is 480mm with a seat tube of 425mm. Head angle is 64.5 degrees with a seat tube angle of 77 degrees. Chainstays are 435mm across the sizes with the wheelbase on the S4 of 1254mm.
