Yeti’s Light Weight, TQ-Powered MTe is Here.

With claimed weights as low as 38lbs (17kg) with a 60Nm motor, Yeti’s MTe might just have reset the bar for the lightweight ebike class.

60Nm from a new TQ motor, 350Wh peak power, 290Wh (T4 spec only) main battery, adjustable Sixfinity kinematic and 145mm travel are the headlines for the new Yeti MTe.

Yeti’s ebike range grows by one with the addition of the half fat MTe to the full fat e160. Aimed at lightweight and high performance through EDR-E race development, the T4 spec with its lilliputian 290Wh battery claims a 17kg (38lbs) headline weight. The two models you will be able to buy in the UK come with a 540Wh battery which pushes the range up considerably, as well as the weight.

The new MTe is powered by the latest TQ HPR-60 motor that sees a jump to 60Nm with peak power jumping to 350Wh too. This motor weighs in at 1,924g and can be paired with a 290, 360 or 540Wh battery and a 160Wh range extender. It’s also quieter with better thermal efficiency and increased efficiency than its predecessor. Silverfish UK are now both the Yeti distributor and UK service partner for TQ.

145mm travel is managed by Yeti’s Sixfinity Link with flip chips to alter suspension progression between 14 and 25% as well as one to keep geometry consistent between 29″ and Mullet wheels. The notched headset for perfect alignment is also designed to take an aftermarket angleset.

Geometry

The Yeti MTe is available in SM, MD, LG and XL sizes.

Reach on the MD is 460mm with a seat tube of 420mm. Head angle is 64 degrees with an effective seat tube angle of 77 degrees. Chainstays are 440 across the sizes with a wheelbase on the MD of 1248mm.
