Now in its seventh iteration, the Santa Cruz Nomad gets a minor trim on the scales with the now standard kinematic change of its stablemates.
A revised carbon layup brings better compliance for bombing runs with less fatigue with a bonus weight loss too, the Santa Cruz Nomad is now CC only. Less anti squat brings the kinematic in line with the rest of the range updates.
Santa Cruz have launched their ‘do everything’ machine, the seventh Nomad to leave the stable with a fair old list of changes. Builds now are in CC carbon only, no more Carbon C for the big enduro rig that still sports 170mm travel front and rear, with mixed wheels.
Retained from the outgoing number is the leverage curve and progression, but with reduced pedal kickback and less anti-squat to bring it in line with the Bullit. The new Nomad is also more active under braking too. The kinematic changes are similar to the updated Bronson and Hightower.
Frame architecture and carbon layup is another big change. A slimmer downtube is the most noticeable change, with a real aim towards providing a more comfortable ride when charging hard. When compared to the Bronson 6 CC, you save an unprecedented 86g. Head angle slackens slightly to match the Bullit, and the seat tube angle steepens in a similar vein too.
Three Santa Cruz Nomad 7 models will be available in the UK as well as a frame-only. The range starts with the Santa Cruz Nomad CC 90 at £5,499, jumping to the Nomad CC XT Di2 Coil at £7,499 and topping at at the Nomad CC XO AXS RSV Coil at £8,499. The frame kit comes with a Fox DHX2 Factory shock at £3,499.
A lifetime warranty remains on Santa Cruz frames, bearings and Reserve wheels.
Geometry
The Santa Cruz Nomad 7 is available in SM, MD, LG, XL and XXL.
Reach on the MD is 455mm with a seat tube of 405mm. Head angle in ‘Hi’ is 63.6 degrees with a seat tube angle of 77.4 degrees. Size-specific chainstays are 440mm.
