The new Specialized Ambush3 features, amongst other things, their new AirCage shell. Unlike a traditional EPS shell, Specialized claim, the AirCage allows the helmet to better spread loads across the shell. This in turn allows the structure to be stronger and lighter, giving Specialized the opportunity to massively increase the ventilation.
All this aims to give a light, strong and well ventilated helmet that still holds up should you happen to land like a dart in the dirt. MIPS Air Node Pro handles the rotational impacts too. A 4D cooling system provides vents in both directions, namely into and out of the helmet to keep your head cool.
BOA Fit with FS1 and a Fidlock buckle combined with TriFix straps aim to allow the finest of tunes to the fit, for all day comfort atop your dome. There’s also POV camera and light compatibility, plus sunglasses storage. A 4-way adjustable visor rounds things off.
At a mere 380g for the Medium in CE spec, this is one light helmet. At £169.00, it’s a steal for such a tech-laden crash hat. Keep your eyes peeled for a review coming soon to see if it all adds up in the real world.
