Starling Cycles Launch the Mega Murmur.

Starling Cycles launch the bigger brother to the Murmur, in the form of the Mega Murmur, a 165mm all-UK-made machine.

If you were paying attention at Ard Rock, you’d have noticed Starling’s new Mega Murmur that offers a 165mm travel designed around a 170mm fork, longer chainstays and the entire frame is now UK-made.

A 10mm longer chainstay over the Murmur is at the heart of the new MegaMurmur. Extra stability for harder charging is the aim, but in reality, 455mm chainstays are nothing daft. Bigger chainstays also mean the bigger sizes should be better balanced.

The Mega Murmur swingarm is also hand-made in Bristol, meaning the entire frame is now made on these shores. That longer swingarm also bumps the travel up to 165mm, although a 140mm ‘Trail’ option is available with the adjustable shock mount. A 170mm fork is advised and the bike can take a dual crown fork if you really want to.

The Mega Murmur also includes all of those new Starling V3 design features, including a new machined main pivot part, an aluminium seat tube insert to reduce seized posts, a neater headtube gusset, an anti-flare headtube and a redesigned main pivot to offer a wider interface.  Starling frames are also made from recycled steel to help reduce their impact on the environment.

The Mega Murmur comes in Large, Extra Large and XXL. Reach on the Large is 485mm with a 440mm set tube. Head angle is 64.1 degrees with a 77.2 degree seat angle. Chainstays are 455mm across the sizes with the Large’s wheelbase at 1260mm.

The usual custom paint and graphics options are available, with custom build options also on offer. A Mega Murmur with standard paint and no shock will set you back £2,330.00 with an 8-16 week lead time.
