The Orbea Rise is Now Available in All Its Alloy Goodness.

Off the back of the launch of their flagship carbon fibre models, the Orbea Rise SL and LT now come with alloy frame options.

The Orbea Rise range grows by six bikes with the addition of two alloy Rise LTs and an alloy SL, plus the addition of the M20 spec in the carbon fibre Rise SL and LT.

Just like its carbon fibre brethren, the alloy Rise is powered by the Shimano EP801 RS motor that comes with better comms protocol than the outgoing model with the new system replacing the Profiles 1 and 2 with RS Gen 2 and RS Gen 2 MC (Mountain Control). In the former, you get the same 65Nm of the older motor, but in Gen 2 MC, you get a max 85Nm, a 15% torque increase like the other EP801 motors. This motor is more intelligent too, adjusting power to rider inputs for better performance on technical climbs and operates better at lower cadences.

There’s also three new batteries, a 630Wh battery, a 420Wh unit and a 210Wh range extender, all come with 16% greater energy density than their older counterparts. The range extender is half the size of the old Orbea range extender. Using the range extender does see a 15% lower motor output but you can sleep the extender to use the main battery first.

Any eagle-eyed race fans will have spotted the prototype Rise under Damien Oton and Gabi Torralba at the EDR-E events, the new Rise is the result of that real world testing. Riders will be able to take advantage of the new Shimano firmware update The new Rise sports an assymetric front triangle, size-specific frame stiffness and a stiffer rear triangle thanks to a larger cross-section chainstay.

Orbea succeeded in their aim to put the same length chainstays on the Rise as the Occam, with the full 29″ bike sporting a sensible 440mm chainstay. You also get the Steep n Deep seat tube that allows for maximum seat post insertion.

Like the Occam LT and SL, the Rise LT and SL sport 150mm rear/160mm front and 140/140mm respectively. Both bikes sport the new Fox Grip dampers and the Rise LT is designed for use with piggyback shocks. Anti squat on the Rise LT is 115% at sag, with anti rise at 60%. On the Rise SL anti squat rises (WHEY) to 120% with anti rise staying at 60%.

Headsets on the Rise aim to keep the internal routing faff low by using the highest quality stainless bearings and the frames use fully sealed bearings throughout. Co-moulded frame protection is augmented by the ‘second skin’ protection.

Geometry

Reach on the Rise LT in Large is 480mm with a 430mm seat tube. Head angle in Low is 64 degrees with seat tube angle of 77 degrees. Chainstays are 440mm with a wheelbase of 1258mm.

Reach on the Rise SL in Large is 490mm with a seat tube of 430mm. Head angle is 65.6 degrees with a seat tube angle of 78 degrees. Chainstays are 440mm with a wheelbase of 1245mm.
