This week is The Bike Place Show – a chance for some great brands to show off their best products.
Here’s our pick of the show’s best bits that’ll soon be available for you to buy.
Our man Andy McCoy was on the show floor and hunting for highlights:
The star of the show – the new Orange Bikes T7. It’s a 30th anniversary special edition titanium hardtail and it is beautiful. Orange have only made 30 of these, 15 in 27.5″ and 15 in 29″.
They’re mostly pre-sold but if you want one they’ll cost you. Frame sets are £2200 and full bikes are £5900.
The new Bos Void air shock was on show. It comes with high and low speed damping and is available in sizes to fit downhill and enduro bikes. It’ll cost around £850.
The Bos Syors coil shock is, we’re told, “an exercise to see just how good a shock can be”. It has high and low speed damping and will cost you around £760.
Hungry show goers were, if they were quick enough, treated to a slice of Peaty’s pie.
The heavy weight pork pie was served up by the man himself. Steve was helping out with catering at the Jungle distribution stand – the UK’s Santa Cruz distributor.
We love KS droppers here at Wideopenmag.
This is the new KS E20 dropper post that’s available in 27.2 and 31.6mm and from 125mm – 150mm drops. It has a twin bolt clamp and we really like that the cable runs from the lower part of the seat post meaning less movement and less chance of damage. It’ll cost you a very reasonable £145.
Ion’s K_Pact zip knee pad puts a zip into the design to make them quick and easy to remove when they (and you) are sweaty. They also come with “super perforated neoprene” to help with breathability and protection comes via Sastec impact foam.
It’s always great to see new options for mountain bike shoes. The Ion Rad Amp shoe has lazer cut vents, a shock absorbing sole, a reinforced toe box and sticky “Sup Traction” rubber. A pair will cost you £99.
The new Maxxis Forekaster tyre is designed to be ideal in spring/autumn conditions and sits as an intermediate tyre between the High Roller and the Minion. It’s £45, fits most wheel sizes and comes in 2.2″ up to 2.6″.
What’s not to like about Burgtec? Homegrown, designed oop-north components with Bryceland and co’s seal of approval – we love ’em.
As always, Burgtec had a reet big selection of components including their new prototype oval chain ring, a beautiful direct mount stem and their brand new 42.5mm stem.
We’ve all seen the Fox Proframe helmet before… but the green colour above is new.
More interesting is their new goggle, the Fox Vue goggle. Nope, the Vue isn’t a tribute to high street cinemas but it was designed by Supercross legend Ken Roczen and will cost you £100. More details when we’ve got them.
And last but very much not least, it’s the Vee Tyre Flow Smasher. It’s a downhill mud tyre that’s designed to roll fast whilst still maintaining a sturdy, puncture proof sidewall. 27.5″ x 2.4″ only for this one for now.
We didn’t get a photo of this one so you’ll have to make do with a video!
